Manteo baseball, softball teams fall to Pasquotank

Manteo varsity baseball and softball teams fell to Pasquotank County in conference games at Elizabeth City on April 4.

After Manteo’s varsity baseball team jumped to a three run lead, the home team Panthers moved ahead with four runs of their own in the bottom of the first.

Although the Redskins had bases loaded more than once, they were able to post only one more run in the third. Pasquotank added three more runs to win the conference game 7-4.

On the softball field, Pasquotank County scored in every inning to win their home conference game against Manteo with a 13-5 score.

The loss leaves the Manteo baseball team 3-9 overall and 0-7 in the Northeastern Coastal 2A/3A Conference for seventh place. Pasquotank County is 9-2 overall and in second place in the conference behind Currituck County with a 7-0 record.

Manteo’s softball team is now 4-10 overall and at 2-5 is fifth in conference. The Pasquotank softball team is 2-5 overall and 1-4 in the conference at sixth place.
