Kindergarten registration now open for Dare County Schools

Registration for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year is now open for all Dare County elementary schools. To enroll in kindergarten, children must be five years old on or before August 31, 2020.

Dare County Schools has advised that while the majority of the registration application may be completed online, certain items will need to be mailed to the child’s future school, including a copy of the child’s birth certificate, proof of residency and the North Carolina physical form complete with immunizations, if applicable.

Students will not be formally enrolled until all information has been received by the child’s future school. Tutorial videos are available on the Dare County Schools website in both English and Spanish for those who need assistance with the application.

For those interested in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion program, there are prompts within the application.

“We look forward to welcoming your child to the Dare County Schools family!” said Kelly Flora, DCS director of elementary education. “If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out.”
