Herbert “Brandt” Bryant

Our beloved Herbert “Brandt” Bryant of Kill Devil Hills, NC went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at ECU Medical Center, in Greenville, NC.

Brandt was born in Portsmouth, VA on April 24, 1962. He graduated from Old Dominion University in 1984 with a BA in Communications. He retired from Winebow in 2019 and worked at Barrier Island Station as a security guard from 2019 to 2022.

Brandt also volunteered with NEST and at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. He was a huge sport fan and worked at the Virginian Pilot Newspaper covering high school football games. He loved UNC basketball, Nebraska football, the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliot.

Brandt is survived by his life partner of 22 years, Terri Reid of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a son, Travis Bryant and wife Nikki from Hampton, VA; another son, Jeremy Bryant of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Harvey Bryant III (Donna) of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Pam Damas (Russ) of Seville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Eloise Bryant and his sister, Kathryn Lester.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at both the Outer Banks Hospital and ECU Medical Center for working nonstop to try to save his life. Friends and family may view Friday August 2, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gallop Funeral Services beach chapel in Nags Head, NC. Brandt’s preference for cremation will be honored and a celebration of his life will be held in the fall.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to help his beloved sea turtles at NEST.org or to the STAR Center at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island at  ncaquariumsociety.com/donate/. Please share an expression of comfort at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
