Jack Dempsey Wise Jr.

Jack “J.D.” Dempsey Wise Jr. died October 17, 2023 in Chesapeake, Va. J.D. had a massive stroke which he couldn’t recover from and passed away in the hospital. He was 66 and was born and raised on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Jack D. Wise Sr. and Pearl Lewark Johnson.

J.D. is survived by his daughter, Veronica Lee Moore and her husband Mark Moore, their children, Ajayiah Farrow, Amillion Moore, and Zechariah Dempsey Moore, and grandson RaShaad Haugabook. He is also survived by his son, Jack Wise III and his children, Leighann Wise Gibbs and Emma Grace Wise; and his sisters, Barbara Wise and Justine Oneal; his brother, John Wise; and many other relatives and friends.

J.D. grew up on the Outer Banks, but he had wanderlust and he loved driving big rig trucks. In his early years he worked for Coy Tillet at Coastal Ready Mix driving the big cement trucks, but he loved the road and traveled all over the country driving 18 Wheelers from coast to coast.

J.D.’s directives for cremation will be honored and he will be laid to rest with a private ceremony in the family cemetery in Nags Head Woods. Please leave condolences to the family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
