Ruby Mae Toler

Rodanthe – Ruby Mae Payne Toler, age 95, of Clayton, died peacefully in Nags Head Monday, November 19. Ruby was born and was raised in Rodanthe to the late Ruford Benjamin and Sudie Midgett Payne. She was the wife of the late Marvin Colon Toler and the sister of the late Lillian Midgett.

Ruby’s survivors include her daughter Patricia Toler O’Neal; three grandchildren, Laurie O’Neal of Salt Lake City, Utah; Chrissy McCamy (Kevin) of Zebulon and Kimberly Brown (Randall) of Lindale, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Gabriella LaMaye O’Neal, Lilliana Casey McCamy, Devin Patrick O’Neal and Jadalyn Mai Brown; a niece Janice Haines, a nephew, Steve Midgett, her great-niece, Donna Covey and a host of other extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 23 at Fairhaven United Methodist Church, 24240 Seabreeze Drive in Rodanthe, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully suggests that donations may be made to Fairhaven United Methodist Church, Rodanthe, in memory of Ruby Payne Toler.

Favorite memories of family and friends are that Ruby had a great sense of humor, she loved being on the water in her father’s skiff. She liked to read stories to her grandchildren and niece, Donna. Ruby also loved to walk the beach collecting shells with them and teaching them how to dig clams up with their toes.
