Dare County Sheriff’s Office releases felony blotter

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has released the September 2022 list of felonies in unincorporated Dare County.

Fourteen felonies are listed. Hatteras Island has 11 of the 14 crimes listed. On Hatteras Island, Buxton is listed six times; Avon, three times and once in Salvo and Hatteras.

One Buxton entry states that about a dozen unlocked vehicles were broken into on Sept. 7, 2022.

The message: lock your car.

Two of the crimes were perpetrated on Roanoke Island and one in Stumpy Point.

Sept. 5: Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 46000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Deputies responded to a business alarm to find a window shattered and items missing. Latent evidence collected. Under investigation.

Sept. 6: Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 46000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Suspects were seen fleeing a business with stolen items. It was determined they had forced entry. A tracking K9 was used to locate the suspects nearby. They were arrested.

Sept. 7: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicles. In the Buxton area, approximately a dozen unlocked vehicles were broken into with a variety of items stolen. Latent evidence collected. Under investigation.

Sept. 11: Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 40000 block of Clyde Gray Lane, Avon. Landlord, tenant, eviction situation. Under investigation.

Sept. 16: Financial Card Fraud. 100 block of Creekview Lane, Roanoke Island. Unauthorized transactions on the victim’s account. Under investigation.

Sept. 16: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 41000 block of Ocean View Dr., Avon. Wallet stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The wallet was later recovered. Under investigation.

Sept.19: Financial Card Fraud. 200 block of Bayview Dr., Stumpy Point. Unauthorized transactions on the victim’s account. Under investigation.

Larceny by Employee. 47000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Business discovered a former employee may have previously stolen money. Under investigation.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny. 100 block of Payne Rd., Roanoke Island. Money reported stolen from a residence. Under investigation.

Sept. 21: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 47000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Medication stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Sept. 24: Hit and Run. 59000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Hatteras. Victim was thrown from the bed of a truck while the driver was driving carelessly. The driver fled the scene. Under investigation.

Sept. 29: Financial Card Fraud. 41000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Avon. Unauthorized financial card transactions noticed on victim’s card. A suspect was identified. Charges pending.

Sept. 30: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 27000 block of Ocean St., Salvo. Wallet stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Sept. 30: Larceny. 46000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Personal property of the victim was taken and sold during a break up. Under investigation.
