Legal services available for eligible Dare seniors
The Dare County Department of Health & Human Services’ Division of Social Services has received funding from the Older Americans Act Title III to help eligible residents 60 years and older with essential legal guidance and services.
The funding provides qualifying seniors with assistance to attain legal services to secure important documents such as living wills, powers of attorney and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) releases, as well as valuable legal advice.
“Older adults are encouraged to seek legal advice now to ensure that their wishes are known in the event of death or they become incapacitated,” said Dare County Adult Services supervisor Beth Bradley. “The Title III funding,” she adds, “may provide that needed service to qualifying seniors.”
Those seeking additional information about services provided under Title III or who would like to inquire if services are appropriate for their legal needs or would like their name placed on the waitlist, should contact Evelyn Berry at 252-475-5500.
