The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Currituck Center staff has planned a workshop to teach participants how to turn an inexpensive bag of dried beans into dinner. This workshop is designed for both youth and adults.

Extension staffers will demonstrate how to prepare dried beans, season and cook them using the crockpot. They will also show participants how to make an easy but very tasty cornbread to complete the meal.

This is a free virtual workshop for youth and adults conducted via Zoom on Monday, February 15 starting at 10 a.m. Participants must register through eventbrite and will be sent a zoom link prior to the workshop.

The Extension will provide participants with some of the supplies, which may be retrieved at the scheduled drive-through pick-up from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 11. Participants will also be given a short list of ingredients that they will be responsible for getting prior to the workshop.

Extension staffers will be using a crockpot for the demonstration, but will also give directions on using the stovetop for those that do not have a crockpot.

Visit https://cookingbeans.eventbrite.com by February 8 to reserve a spot. After completing the eventbrite registration, call Stephanie Minton or Sheila Gregory at 252-232-2262 and schedule the supply pick-up time. Youth that register will also have to be registered in 4-H online.
