North Carolina man sentenced to seven years in prison for firearm charge
A Wilson man was sentenced Wednesday, August 4, 2021 to 84 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of North Carolina. Terrance Anthony Moore, 35, was convicted of the charge by a jury on March 23, 2021.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, Moore possessed a firearm on July 8, 2018. “Moore was seen by law enforcement standing on the side of the road in Wilson, raising and lowering the firearm in the direction of nearby businesses,” stated the release.
“Moore took the stand and testified, among other things, that he had a number of previous felony convictions, including two common law robberies and a drug distribution offense, within the previous ten years,” the release continued. “He also testified that his nickname was ‘Trigger’ due to his violent temper.”
G. Norman Acker III, acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle. The Wilson Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lucy Brown prosecuted.
