North Carolina man facing first-degree murder charge in fatal road rage shooting
A North Carolina man has been charged in the shooting death of a motorcyclist in what investigators say was a road rage incident, police said.
The Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release that Roger Dale Nobles 51, was arrested at his home Monday and charged with first-degree murder. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail without bond.
Police identified the victim as Stephen Addison, 32.
In a previous news release, police said officers sent to a location in the center of the city at around 12:31 p.m. Monday found that a man riding a motorcycle had been shot.
WRAL reported that the arrest warrant said Nobles was driving his truck when he and his son got into a conflict with Addison at an intersection. The son got out of the truck to confront Addison and the elder Nobles fired a gun from the driver’s seat, according to the arrest warrant.
Addison was taken to a local hospital where he died from his wounds. The arrest warrant said Nobles admitted to the shooting, but did not say whether he gave a motive.
