Stephen King, Dolly Parton and Lizzie Borden are all a part of Theatre of Dare’s 2024-2025 season, which will take to the troupe’s Kitty Hawk stage beginning in September.

Season tickets for the local community theater’s 34^th season went on sale Monday on the Theatre of Dare website.

“Big names, big shows, big entertainment,” says T.O.D. president Evan Tillett. “We’ve got comedy, romance, suspense, and great music on tap. It will be another fantastic year of live, local community theater here on the Outer Banks!”

Of Theatre of Dare’s 35 mainstage performances last season, 27 were sellouts, so the best way for fans to guarantee themselves a seat at every production is to purchase season tickets.

Season ticket packages start at $75 and include the following five productions:

• Social Security (Sept. 20-29) – A raucous comedy about Manhattan art gallery owners Barbara and David Kahn, who have their lives upended by the arrival of her mother, as her sister and brother-in-law rush to Buffalo to rescue their sexually promiscuous daughter.
• Misery (Nov. 8-17) – Injured novelist Paul Sheldon finds himself trapped in the home of his unstable “number one fan” in this classic 1987 Stephen King thriller.
• Lizzie (Jan 31-Feb. 9) – A rock n’ roll musical that delves into the mind of infamous axe murderess Lizzie Borden and speculates on the possible motivations she may have had for her heinous crimes.
• Significant Other (March 21-30) – In this decidedly unromantic romantic comedy, Jordan Berman would love to be in love, but that’s easier said than done. As all of his single girlfriends tie the knot one by one, Jordan finds that the only thing harder than finding love is supporting the loved ones around you when they do.
• 9 to 5 (May 9-18) – The classic 1980 comedy film becomes a big bold Dolly Parton musical as three female coworkers plot revenge on their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss.

Season ticket holders will be able to select their performance dates before tickets go on sale to the general public. Season ticket holders will also get early access to purchase tickets to two second stage “Off ToDway” productions:

• Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus (Dec. 7-15 at Dare Arts) – The classic Christmas tale becomes a 1950s radio drama as a newspaper editor assigns a little girl’s holiday questions to a reporter on the verge of self-destruction.
• Now and Then (Jan. 10-19) – An older man offers a young couple $2,000 to sit and have a drink with him. As they talk, they discover this stranger has an unbelievable reason for the stranger’s interest in them, until a displeased second stranger arrives to make sense of it all.

In addition, Theatre of Dare is again offering a VIP season ticket for $90, which includes early entrance to the theater for priority seating.

“We think that Theatre of Dare season tickets are the best entertainment values on the Outer Banks,” says business manager Kelsey Thompson. “It’s going to be another incredible season, and a season ticket is the only way to be sure you’re there for all of it.”
