Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday

Independent Bookstore Day is Saturday, April 30. Downtown Books in Manteo, along with over 800 independent bookstores nationwide, is celebrating the power, uniqueness and importance of indie bookstores.

Created in 2013 to celebrate books, readers and indie bookselling, Independent Bookstore Day continued to grow. Downtown Books will feature exclusive Independent Bookstore Day merchandise such as Blackwing pencils, IBD totes and prints, lots of giveaways and a free gift with every $50 purchase. Staffers will also be handing out new #obxbooks bookmarks to help shoppers find the other six independent bookstores located on the Outer Banks. Visit five (not in the same day) to be eligible for a free #obxbooks tote bag.

Downtown Books is located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in downtown Manteo and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Independent Bookstore Day.
