Currituck County’s 4-H Sharpshooters selected to NC 4-H National Team

Currituck County 4-H Sharpshooters team member Tucker Melton has been selected to represent North Carolina as a member of the four person NC State Rifle Team. Melton will compete with the team at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament in Grand Island Nebraska, June 24-29, 2019. Melton was an alternate on last year’s Rifle team and has traveled to Ellerbe monthly in order to practice with the state rifle team.

Melton has been a member of the Currituck County Sharp Shooters 4-H Club since its inception and competes both individually and as a member of the senior rifle, shotgun and small bore pistol teams.

Currituck 4-H Sharpshooters Kaitlyn Carey and Bode Fredrick also competed at national team tryouts and were both selected as alternates to this year’s rifle team. They will also travel to Ellerbe for monthly team practice, training and instruction in anticipation of being selected for the team next October.

The 4-H Shooting Sports program offers young people a positive experience in shooting sports and promotes the safe sport of hunting and firearms safety. For more information on 4-H Shooting Sports or other 4-H programs, contact the Currituck Extension Center at 252-232-2261 or email sherry_Fischlschweiger@ncsu.edu.
