Two pedestrians suffered fatal injuries and two others were hurt after being struck by a pickup truck in Kitty Hawk.

The Monday afternoon incident, which occurred along NC 12 (Beach Road) near Maynard Street, is still under investigation. The victims who died, a man and a woman, were transported to a Norfolk, Virginia hospital. A child was treated for minor injuries and released from the Outer Banks Hospital. A fourth person was treated onsite.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrians has been interviewed and there are pending charges.

Police have not released names.
