On Jan. 28, 2025, at 9:56 a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Currituck County. The incident happened at US 158 near Forbes Road.

Jonathan David Kelley, 42, of Chesapeake, Va., was traveling south on US 158 in a 2015 Honda Civic. He went off the roadway to the right and crashed into a house. Kelley was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene, reports Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Troop A, Greenville.

The cause of the wreck is pending, awaiting the Medical Examiners report.
