Eastern North Carolina woman killed in collision

An eastern North Carolina woman died in a collision Friday morning in Pitt County.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens, on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 7:37 a.m. the Highway Patrol responded to a two-car fatal collision at the intersection of Lester Mills Road and Joe Stocks Road in Pitt County.
“34-year-old Kendra Hubert of Greenville, NC was traveling north on Joe Stocks Rd. in a Ram pick-up truck when she ran a stop sign and collided into a Jeep SUV traveling west on Lester Mills Rd. driven by 25-year-old Katie Sawyer of New Bern, NC,” stated Stephens.
After the vehicles collided, Sawyer’s vehicle traveled off the road to the right and overturned onto a brick pillar. Sawyer died at the scene.
Hubert was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
