“It is such a great honor and privilege to represent Currituck County as an NCCAT Beginning Teacher of the Year finalist! I am beyond proud of the work and dedication that Central Elementary staff have put into training and development, especially for a new teacher. It is with their guidance and support that I am able to create a classroom that puts positivity at the forefront and encourages students to be the best versions of themselves. I look forward to representing my school and our county this March in Greensboro. Let’s go, Currituck!”

As part of this achievement, Morgan and the other finalists will attend a professional development week in March at the Truist Leadership Institute in Greensboro. A special ceremony is planned for March 27, 2025 at the Elliott University Center auditorium at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, when the winner will be announced.

Additionally, Morgan will be recognized at the upcoming regular Currituck County Board of Education meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Historic Currituck Courthouse. Representatives from NCCAT, including Dr. M. Brock Womble, executive director, and Dr. Barry Williams, vice-chair of the NCCAT Board of Trustees, will attend for the special recognition.

Currituck County Schools celebrates Mrs. Morgan’s remarkable achievement and unwavering dedication to her students and school community. Her recognition as a finalist for this esteemed honor is a testament to her commitment and passion for teaching, and the district looks forward to cheering her on at the state level,” stated the CCS announcement.
