The Delta Zeta Chapter of North Carolina DKG met at Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe for a meeting that was not only exquisite for their palates, but rich for their intellect.

Amy Montgomery, senior administrator of operations, and Jennifer Schwartzenberg, director of community outreach and development, of the Outer Banks Hospital, gave a talk on Blue Zones and what their plans are for making the Outer Banks become recognized as one of these areas. Blue Zones are “a proven ground-breaking solution that helps people live better and longer.” Our surroundings shape us! These women talked about meeting with Blue Zones experts, and have spoken on what will be done to collaborate for making a plan for changes in the way that our population continues to live out their lives.

Schwartzenberg talked about activities that were available in our area and encouraged members to join her as healthy life, work and play choices become easier.

As well as discovering Blue Zones, Montgomery shared a wealth of info about the Outer Banks Hospital and how it interacts with our communities. One point we all agreed on was the fact that we live in a vibrant environment, with a positive “pack” of friends and colleagues.
