Hatteras Island Angel Gifts have been distributed. Organizers have expressed thanks to all those who helped make this a wonderful Christmas for 108 children and 58 families. What a blessing to those who worked and those who received, wrote the organizers.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, all of Hatteras Island Meals recipients were gifted with treats from a local business, organizations and people thinking of others.
Hatteras Island Meals saluted and thanked Hatteras Island Pizza-Gingerbread House, which served each recipient a piece of gingerbread cake with lemon sauce. Thanks were extended to many good folks at the Hatteras Village Library for the Christmas cards for Hatteras Island Meals recipients and to Michelle, the library branch manager. Pat Thatch created festive pinecone Christmas trees. Lovingly and beautifully decorated felt trees were designed by the good folks at Hatteras Island Quilters. And volunteer Cosmo Ricchuiti cut and painted old fashioned bulb lights for each recipient. “Thanks to all,” wrote Hatteras Island Meals.
The conveyance of choice for Santa Claus in Hatteras Island villages is a big fire truck with lights flashing. Volunteer firefighters drive the big trucks through village streets for all to see. Then, in most villages, Santa shows up at the fire station for a time with children. Thanks were expressed to these volunteers.
