Avon man arrested on drug charges following Manns Harbor traffic stop

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported on the arrest of an Avon man following a Manns Harbor traffic stop.

According to a DCSO news release, on Monday, December 9, 2024 at around 9 p.m., a Dare County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy stopped a vehicle near White’s Shopping Center on Hwy. 64 in Manns Harbor for a traffic violation.

“During the traffic stop, a K9 was deployed on the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance, resulting in the seizure of an amount of Fentanyl,” stated the release.

Robert M. Dawson, 33, of Avon, was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule I illegal controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for illegal controlled substance, and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver illegal controlled substance.

He was given a $15,000 bond.
