Literacy was the theme of Wanchese Christian Academy’s first quarter awards ceremony and “students did fantastic in their presentations,” noted school administration in a news release.

Taking center stage were poetic recitations, the Spanish alphabet and scripture memorizations, personal writings, book reports in creative fashion, and showing off second graders’ cursive writing. All students were acknowledged for strides in academics, attendance or character growth.

“As we are venturing into the second half of the semester and conferences are behind us, move forward and keep climbing up the scholastic ladder of achievement,” stated the release.

Earning individual honors for attendance and academics were:

Perfect attendance – Elly Simpson, Isla Corderio, Johua Pettit, Lily Hooper, Mary Grace Strum, Rebecca Barber, Saylor Callum and Vela Grace Etheridge.

A + B Honor Roll – Penelope Wells, Gina Stevens, Annabelle Stevens, Alex Stevens, Elly Simpson, Zoey Ross, Hank Reynolds, Jonah Midgett, Myles Mann, Lily Hooper, Vela Grace Etheridge, Graclynn Doshier and Kennedy Daniels.

A Honor Roll – Kali-Jo Beasley, Saylor Callum, Isla Cordeiro, Noah Cordeiro, Salter Cordeiro, Ryland Daniels, Meri-Grace Maddox, Lexi Midgett, Joshua Pettit, Olivia Pettit, Reef Roche, Jace Simpson, Bobby Strum and Mary Grace Strum.
