Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 is the last day to submit the Dare County Needs Assessment Survey for Parks and Recreation.
On Nov. 4, Parks and Recreation director Spencer Gregory announced that the return rate was 6.32%. He said usually the response rate was 3% to 5%. Gregory wants a 10% response rate to double the normal one.

McGill Associates, the firm hired by Dare County to conduct the assessment, held four meetings throughout Dare County in late October. Some 300 citizens participated in those meetings.
Still to go are six to eight focus groups and a work session with the Board of Commissioners before a final presentation.
Briefly, Gregory told the commissioners that the soccer field at First Flight Middle School was used this fall to play soccer. Additionally, several travel tournaments were held this fall on the three fields.
As for the Satterfield complex in Nags Head, Gregory said the field was completely sodded by Nov. 1. He said the fields should be ready to go this spring.
