Cynthia Hodges Riddle passed away peacefully in her home in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the age of 70. Cindy was born in Little Washington, North Carolina on March 10, 1954 to the late Marion Uriah “M.U.” Hodges and Peggy Rose Woolard. Cindy grew up in Franklin, Virginia, where she graduated from Franklin High School. She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Jerome Flora Riddle. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Cindy spent her summers in the Outer Banks, a place that eventually became her lifelong home. She delighted in many days at the beach collecting sea glass, cooking and hosting family and friends. Most of all, more than anything, Cindy loved being surrounded by family and friends, and especially her grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her treasured son, Herndon Hunt Outlaw Riddle and dedicated daughter Jacqueline Helena Hodges Riddle; as well as her four cherished grandchildren, Lauren Catherine Riddle, Cameran Alexis Riddle, Jude Hunt Godfrey Ward, and Juliana Brooks Rose Ward, who brought immense joy and love to her life.

Mrs. Riddle was preceded in death by her brother, William Bruce Rose Jr., and her stepfather, William Bruce Rose of Franklin, Virginia.

Cindy was an incredibly fearless and resilient woman who faced life’s unexpected challenges with unyielding strength throughout her journey. While many might have given up with all the cards she had been dealt, she fought relentlessly through every circumstance.

She will be sincerely missed by her loved ones and friends. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is made whole again with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head. Cindy’s funeral will be at 1 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Andrews by the Sea Old Chapel in Nags Head. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC.
