Margaret was born in Norfolk, VA where she spent her young years until her family moved to Manila, Philippines in 1947 for two years. Her family then returned to Elizabeth City where she graduated from Elizabeth City High School. Margaret went on to graduate from the University of Georgia, May 1958 with a teaching certificate in special education. Margaret was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

On November 22, 1959, Margaret married the love of her life, Wilson Jones Jr. Together, they built a life full of adventure, laughter and love. They enjoyed spending time at their beach cottage in Kitty Hawk with many close friends in their beach neighborhood. Margaret always had an interesting story to share. She could recall, with great detail, her time spent on her voyage to Manila, growing up with her brother Wallace. Always eager to visit with anyone and share one of her vivid, colorful stories, Margaret will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Phillip Alligood officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Janice Dance and her very special caregiver team for their help and care for Margaret over the last few years.
