Dr. Karen Roseboro, superintendent of Tyrrell County Schools (TCS), has announced her resignation, effective November 8, 2024. After serving the district since October 2022, Roseboro will join the Anson County Schools Executive Leadership Team.

Under Roseboro’s leadership, Tyrrell County Schools achieved significant milestones. “The district was successfully removed from the low-performing school district list, and student achievement rates steadily increased,” stated the announcement from TCS. “Roseboro’s strategic initiatives also resulted in substantial grant funding and partnerships, expanding career and technical education offerings, STEM programs, safety improvements, and family and community engagement efforts.”

Tyrrell County Schools “has the foundations in place to continue to thrive in the future. The principals, teachers, and staff are exceptional and have played an instrumental role in making TCS the bright star in the east,” the announcement continued.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have served the students, staff, and families of Tyrrell County Schools,” said Roseboro. “Together, we achieved remarkable progress, and I am proud of our positive impact on our community.”

Roseboro is excited to join Anson County Schools, a rural district in southwest North Carolina. As a native of Anson County, she is eager to return home to contribute to the district’s efforts to improve student outcomes.

The Tyrrell County School Board of Education has already begun the process of selecting a replacement for Roseboro and will provide updates to the community as the search progresses.
