DCSO issues blotter for unincorporated Dare

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued the September 2024 blotter recording felony crimes committed in unincorporated areas of Dare County.
A total of 13 crimes are listed. Eight of those crimes occurred on Hatteras Island. Four happened on Roanoke Island and one in Colington.
Sept. 8: Breaking and Entering. 48000 block of Quidley Lane, Buxton. While the victim was incarcerated, two suspects broke into the victim’s camper and stole personal items. Upon further investigation the suspects were apprehended and arrested. Stolen items were recovered.
Sept. 9: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 100 block of First Colony Court, Roanoke Island. Fake check written on a business account. Under investigation.
Sept. 10: Breaking and Entering. 100 block of Etheridge Rd., Roanoke Island. Medication reported stolen from a residence. Under investigation.
Sept. 11: Arson. 40000 block of NC 12, Avon. Building intentionally set fire to. Under investigation.
Breaking and Entering. 46000 block of Diamond Shoals Dr., Buxton. Unknown suspects broke into the victim’s shed and stole tools and personal items. Upon further investigation the suspects were identified and criminally charged. Stolen items were recovered.
Sept. 17: Felonious Restraint. 40000 block of Harbor Rd., Avon. Victim reported being taken against their will by the suspect. The victim was later located safe in Manns Harbor. Charges have been issued for the suspect.
Sept. 17: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 41000 block of Ocean View Dr., Avon. Money, medication, and sunglasses stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Sept. 18: Larceny of a Chose in Action. 40000 block of NC 12, Avon. Check stolen then counterfeited. The bank stopped the transaction.
Sept. 23: Larceny. 900 block of Woodley Ave., Roanoke Island. Larceny of a tow dolly. Under investigation.
Sept. 25: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 41000 block of NC 12, Avon. Unauthorized transaction discovered on a business account. The bank is investigating further.
Sept. 26: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 52000 block of NC 12, Frisco. Money stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Sept. 26: Larceny. 2000 block of Colington Rd., Colington. Enclosed trailer reported stolen. Under investigation.
Sept. 29: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 100 block of Meekins Dr., Roanoke Island. Pepper spray stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Latent evidence collected for further investigation.
