The League of Women Voters of Dare County is holding a Make Your Vote Count Rally and Community Resource Fair on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from noon until 3 p.m. at Dowdy Park in Nags Head. The event is sponsored by the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
“With the election on November 5, the League wants to have an opportunity for voters to become familiar with issues that will be voted upon,” stated the event announcement. “The Rally will have speakers addressing how to vote, what is on the ballot, what is necessary for voter ID, and other pertinent information. The emcee will be Tianna Stathis. The speakers will include Skip Saunders, chair of the Board of Elections; Jane Pinsky from Common Cause; Matta Ellinwood with Every Child NC, and Judge Linda McGee. Since the League is non-partisan, there will be no party affiliations displayed or candidates supported, only general information about the election.”
The resource fair will include the Beach Food Pantry, the Community Clinic of Dare, Equal Rights Amendment NC, CYP Dare, Interfaith Community Outreach, the Dementia Friendly Coalition, GEM, Outer Banks Health, NC Safe – Fund Safety Info and Locks, and others.
A variety of treats will be available for sale from Street Eats Latin Fusion and Mia’s Bake Shop and Tea Room. Entertainment will be provided by The Hand Me Downs.
Rain date is Sunday, September 29.
