This Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative crew headed to the western part of the state to Union Power Cooperative, headquartered in Monroe, to help with restoration efforts after Hurricane Helene heavily damaged their system.

Pictured before heading west are, from left, Tyler Scarborough, Robbie Easley, Jonathan Vernesoni, Justin Waterfield and Brayan Garcia.

The local cooperative is sending two bucket trucks, four linemen, a crew supervisor and pickup truck. “Cooperation among cooperatives is one of our founding cooperative principles and it’s wonderful to be on the ‘giving’ side of mutual aid!” stated CHEC.
