Currituck County 4-H members showcase equine excellence

Curituck County 4-H’ers recently showcased their outstanding equine knowledge and skills while competing against members from all across the southern United States. Two Currituck 4-H members represented North Carolina in the Communications Contest, Horse Bowl Competition and Horse Judging Competition at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, Georgia.
Emerson Page was a member of the NC 4-H Horse Judging Team A which placed second in the competition. Emerson also delivered an excellent presentation, “The Silent Struggle,” in the Horse Public Speaking contest; earning a fifth place finish. She will also represent NC 4-H in the horse public speaking contest at the:
- All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio (October);
- Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville, Kentucky (November).
Cayden Lowe was a member of the NC 4-H Horse Bowl team which placed second, and the NC 4-H Horse Judging team B which placed fourth. She also was the 10th overall high point individual in Horse Judging and will be a member of the NC 4-H Judging team that competes at:
- All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio (October);
- Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville, Kentucky (November)
The NC 4-H Horse Achievement Program recognizes youth for their outstanding accomplishments in horse programs, leadership and growth activities and community service activities. There are four levels of accomplishment: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Emerald, with an increasing level of achievement required for each award. Extend a special congratulations to the talented youth who have earned Horse Achievement Medals in 2024:

Karleigh Meads, Bronze Award
Isabel Cox, Bronze Award
Emerson Page, Bronze Award
Carsyn Sawyer, Bronze Award
These young individuals have demonstrated exceptional skill, confidence and dedication, shining brightly in their respective areas. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and the support of the 4-H community. Join us in celebrating their outstanding accomplishments and the bright futures that lie ahead!
