Anglers at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head continue to reel in large bull red drum from the end of the 1,000-foot-long pier.

Rick Probst, a volunteer fishing instructor at the pier, holds up a nice 41-inch drum he caught, photographed and released early last Monday morning. A handful of other anglers had combined for seven more fish by 8 a.m. that same day.

Sustained northeast winds had kicked up the ocean and created huge white-water waves.
