Kitty Hawk traffic stop leads to drug arrest of Virginia woman

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Virginia woman on drug charges following a traffic stop in Kitty Hawk.
According to a DCSO news release, at around 11:06 p.m. on August 21, 2024, deputies from the A-District of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Hwy 158 in Kitty Hawk.
“During the stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was deployed and indicated the presence of an illegal controlled substance. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery and seizure of mushrooms and THC,” stated the release.
Julia L. Knapp, 21, of Virginia Beach, Va., was arrested at the scene. Knapp has been charged with felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance and felony possession of THC. She was issued a $15,000 secured bond related to these charges.
