The Radio Hatteras tech team installed a new Nautel VX 1 transmitter for radio station 99.9 FM in Waves. The new transmitter replaces one 15 years old, has a modern interface and tests remotely. No change on the broadcast tower was required and no change in coverage will result from the new transmitter, which cost $7,000. The Radio Hatteras volunteer tech team members, above, from left, are Ted Cywinski, Brian Wharton, Mike Hennessey and Lou Browning. Radio Hatteras also broadcasts on 101.5 FM to cover Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
