The Delta Zeta Chapter of the North Carolina State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma honors teaching staff here in Dare County. The group has been participating since 1989 and has been involved in many activities since its inception, one of which is the Community Spelling Bee, held annually in March.

Because the group’s growth has been recorded on 35 years of paper and arranged in binders, group members decided to place their entire history in a climate-controlled locality at the Outer Banks History Center. Director Tammy Woodward and intern Joshua dos Reis gave Delta Zeta representatives much information about how their singular records would be housed, and also took them on a tour of their remarkable resources.

“Records are open to all, and as teachers know, effects of the past are a treasure for students and other Dare County residents,” noted a Delta Zeta news release.
