For his Eagle Scout project, Tobias “Toby” Fleckenstein replaced 13 dilapidated and decaying benches along the Manteo waterfront.

He redesigned the benches making them higher, created blueprints, developed a materials list, and got a lot of approvals. He organized 11 volunteers for an assembly-line production and installed the benches, which were used as soon as available.

Fleckenstein presented the results of his completed project to the Town of Manteo Board of Commissioners May 15, 2024.
