David Cloughley (58) passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Dave earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from East Carolina University. He was a beloved professor at Pitt Community College, passionate music lover, and inspiring mentor. His infectious positivity, kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. His unwavering optimism and resilience in the face of adversity was an inspiration to many.

He loved old westerns, disc golf, classic rock, classical music and going to concerts with friends. He enjoyed playing the drums and piano, and shared his musical talents with friends, teaching them to play the drums and fostering a sense of community through music.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Clock” Cloughley (2013). He leaves behind his mother, Ann Cloughley of Manteo, NC, his sister Colleen Knight (Donny) of Alva, FL, nephews Donny Knight III and Timothy Knight, both of Estero, FL, niece Caitlyn Knight of Alva, FL, his aunt Nancy Johnston of Wharton, NJ, his uncle Jim Hamilton of Marcellus, NY, and many cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces. He also leaves behind a network of friends and loved ones, as well as his faithful dog, Rayna, who brought him much joy and companionship.

His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and others fortunate enough to have known him.

A memorial service will be held August 4, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Manteo Baptist Church in Manteo, NC.
