The Town of Nags Head has announced it now offers “Keep Off the Dunes” signs to property owners for $30 plus tax. They are available for purchase on the second floor of town hall, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“As you probably already know, dunes are essential for shielding our community from storms and erosion, but their stability depends on the vegetation that holds them together. Walking on the dunes damages these plants, leading to erosion and the loss of our natural defenses. Without the plants, the dunes can blow away, leaving our coast vulnerable,” stated an announcement from the town.

“Investing in a ‘Keep Off the Dunes’ sign is a simple yet powerful way to contribute to the preservation of our beautiful coastline.”
