Letter to the Editor: Another angle to the wall debate
Published 7:29 am Saturday, February 2, 2019
To the editor,
One important element has been left out of the debate about a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
Several months ago on late night T.V., an environmental engineer gave his opinion on another use for it. He said if environmental controls were built into its literally millions of acres of desert in Texas and the surrounding areas could be made into productive farm land. The costs would be minimal in conjunction with the wall and the payback would go on indefinitely.
Thousands of farms workers would be needed and a host of spinoff businesses and other benefits would result.
Maybe Senator Schumer and Nancy Pelosi would like to comment.
Yours truly,
Bernard T. Walker
