Cape Hatteras National Seashore is inviting public review and comments on a proposed project to pave a small section of road at the intersection of Lighthouse Road and Flowers Ridge Road in Buxton. Public comments will be accepted through April 10, 2024.

The current roadbed at the CHNS boundary is gravel and deteriorates due to weather events and vehicular traffic access to a private subdivision along Flowers Ridge Road. Paving the approximately 400-foot long, 25-foot-wide gravel section of road is expected to improve community access to the subdivision and reduce maintenance costs.

Public comments may be submitted electronically at parkplanning.nps.gov/flowersridgeroad, the preferred method, or mailed to: Superintendent, 1401 National Park Dr., Manteo, N.C. 27954.
