As of Friday morning, the First Flight High School boys basketball team and Bear Grass Charter girls are the only two area teams left in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association basketball playoffs.
On Tuesday, the Nighthawks defeated the E.E. Smith by a score of 77 to 67. On Friday night at 7 p.m., the Nighthawks were set to play North Burnswick in Leland. The Nighthawks play in the 3A bracket.
Bear Grass Charter girls defeated Eno River, 53 to 23. Bear Grass was set to play at home against Chatham Central from Broad Creek at 6 p.m., March 1 in the 1A bracket.
The First Flight girls basketball team was defeated by Triton Hawks from Erwin by a score of 60 to 53.
In the 1A bracket, Ocracoke boys lost to East Bladen, 56-39. Cape Hatteras girls lost to Northside 81 to 47. Columbia boys lost to West Columbus 71 to 33.
In the 3A bracket, Currituck boys lost to Orange 85 to 62. The Currituck girls lost to Eastern Alamance 62 to 37.
