Local dancer Tessa Hassell, 9, competed at Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest ballet competition, and placed top 12 with both her Classical solo and Contemporary solo.

YAGP is considered the Olympics of dance in the dance community.

Hassell trains year-round at Outer Banks Dance Academy. While the academy is not new to YAGP – they have attended several times before and had other soloists place – Hassell is the youngest dancer to have placed from the Outer Banks.
