Camden woman arrested on drug charges following hit and run

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Camden woman following a hit and run incident.
According to a DCSO news release, on January 27, 2024 at around 4:26 a.m., deputies in the A-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 12 near the Whalebone Intersection in Nags Head.
“The vehicle had been in a Hit and Run accident that occurred in Rodanthe, NC and left the scene,” stated the release. “During the stop probable cause was established to search the vehicle. During the search an amount of Marijuana edibles and Suboxone were located and seized.”
Karrie Christine Barnes, 35, of Camden, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a schedule III controlled substance. She was given a $4,000 secured bond.
The Nags Head Police Department assisted with the incident.
