The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has recognized Tyrrell County Schools for outstanding performance during the 2022-23 school year.

In a letter to Superintendent Dr. Karen Roseboro, NCDPI officials congratulated Columbia High School and Columbia Middle School for achieving expected academic growth and Tyrrell Elementary School for exceeding expected academic growth. Additionally, Columbia High School was congratulated for its success in graduating students.

“Whether for academic growth or graduation rate, these certificates showcase the dedication to academic achievement in your school system of both students and educators,” stated the letter from NCDPI. “However you choose to distribute and celebrate these awards, please share the appreciation and congratulations from the entire Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education with everyone in your district.”

“This is a significant recognition for Tyrrell County Schools, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of students, educators, and administrators,” noted the TCS announcement of the awards. “The DPI’s awards program is a way to celebrate the successes of our schools and to encourage continued excellence in the years to come.”
