The OBX Pickleball Group held a Halloween King of the Pickleball Court Event at the Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Center to benefit the OBX Dementia Friendly Coalition. Participants presented Diane Denny, executive director of the coalition, with a check for $500.
The donation was given to support the Caregivers Day Out Program, which is held every Monday at Parks and Rec in Kill Devil Hills and every Thursday at the Tillett Center in Manteo. “Caregiving 24/7 is hard and the program gives the caregiver a much needed break which is a win/win for everyone,” noted the announcement of the donation.
This was Denny’s first time attending a pickleball event and upon reflection she stated “What a great group of people exercising while giving back to the community. They set a great example of how we should all live our lives!”
