In 2016, Henry moved to the Outer Banks with his family after accepting a law enforcement ranger position at Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Bodie Island district. He went on to become the Outer Banks Group’s deputy chief ranger, and most recently gained valuable experience serving as acting chief ranger.

“I am excited to continue my work with the outstanding Outer Banks Group staff and the valued residents, visitors and businesses of the Outer Banks,” stated Henry.

“Mike Henry’s experience and knowledge with the operation and issues of the Outer Banks Group will allow for a seamless transition for staff, community partners and stakeholders,” said National Parks of Eastern North Carolina Superintendent David Hallac. “We are fortunate to have Mike in this leadership role to provide for the safety of our visitors and the protection of park resources.”

Henry and his wife Sabrina have two children who attend Manteo High School and a child who attends Appalachian State University.
