On October 7, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers with Elizabeth City Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Maple Street in Elizabeth City.

According to an ECPD news release, officers arrived on scene and located victim Cireq Boston, 22, o Edenton, in a residence. Boston suffered from gunshot wounds and was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, where he was later pronounced deceased.

No suspect information was available as of the time the news release was sent.

“This is an active ongoing investigation and the Police Department urges anyone with additional information pertaining to this incident to contact the Elizabeth City Police Department at (252) 335-4321 or the Crime Line at (252) 335-5555,” stated the release. “All information received will remain anonymous and strictly confidential.”
