A black hole can be described as an object in space that has such a strong gravitational pull that nothing, even light, can escape it. We have one in Eastern North Carolina and it is called the Red Wolf Program and it has had more ups and downs since its inception in the late 1980s than the stock market.

Fur Taker magazine did a brief article on it in July 2016 and as of that time about thirty five million dollars has been sunk into it. Quoting another article in Scientific Advances it went on to say that 20% or less of the wolves were actually of wolf ancestry and probably 80% had mixed coyote ancestry.

As a related issue, the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) was found in 1995 to be illegally misusing funds from the Pittman Robertson Wildlife Fund to reintroduce grey wolves to Yellowstone National Park and Idaho. Of course it was done without Congressional approval and the Government Accounting Office (GAC) said it was one of the worst managed programs it ever encountered. At least forty five million dollars was misappropriated and the staff made seventy nine trips to Canada in eight years. The paper trail was so bad no one was ever prosecuted. Can you imagine what F.W.S. would do with the proposed quarter of a billion dollars for the Red Wolf over the next years?

The grey wolves did quite well and most of the hunting outfitters in that area are out of business due to their predation.

The whole sorry Red Wolf Program should have been scrapped years ago. The money could be used to help our country which is on the brink of an economic meltdown or worse.
