Dare County Schools announced Tuesday night that Thursday will be a remote learning day and Friday will be an optional workday, not a student day.
DCS stated in the news release that, based on the information from the National Weather Service webinar at 6 p.m., Hurricane Idalia remains on the same path to pass south of Cape Hatteras: “It appears the storm will slow after moving off the coast. Rainfall estimates have increased. Ocean over wash estimates have increased from 1-3 feet.
“As a result of a high pressure system to our north, wind speeds in the 50 mph range could continue into Saturday. The current estimates potentially have us feeling the effects of the storm as early as Wednesday night.”
Students and staff will receive further instructions from their respective schools on Wednesday.
