The Outer Banks Scallywags were triumphant over the Edenton Steamers 11-7 on Tuesday, July 18.

The Scallywags were the first to get on the board in the first when Jackson Thompson singled, scoring one run. Then Khris Morris singled, which helped Edenton Steamers tie the game at one in the top of the second.

The Scallywags took back the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Aidan Feather was struck by a pitch, James Duncan hit a sacrifice fly and Cole Mascolo hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Ryan Kay singled, which helped Edenton Steamers tie the game at four in the top of the fifth.

The Scallywags jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Brantley Cutler singled, Alex Ulloa hit into a fielder’s choice and Josh Foulks grounded out, each scoring one run.

The Outer Banks Scallywags added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on four hits. Feather hit a solo home run to right field, Hayden Friese doubled, scoring one run, Mascolo tripled, scoring one run, and John Horton induced Cutler to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Jacob Raguni earned the win for the Scallywags. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking four. Ethan Levy took the loss for the Steamers. The righty went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on three hits, striking out one and walking four. Paddy McConigal, Casey Proctor and Trenton Sawyer each threw scoreless innings for the Scallywags in relief.

The Scallywags collected 12 hits in the game. Mascolo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead his team in hits. Feather, Mascolo and Cutler each drove in two runs for the Scallywags. Thompson led them with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. The Scallywags turned one double play in the game.

The Steamers tallied 10 hits in the game. Luke Meyers led his team with three hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Tanner Knowles drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Steamers with two runs batted in. The three-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Kay and Morris each collected multiple hits. The team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Tyler Overaitis, Drifton Padgett and Ty Garza led the team with two free passes each. The Steamers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gabe Kirck made the most plays with five.
