The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has released the July 2023 felony crime blotter for unincorporated portions of the county.

A total of 13 crimes are reported, with Roanoke Island leading the way with five crimes. Hatteras Island also had five crimes reported in four villages.

July 4: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 41000 block of Costen Light Court, Avon. Purse stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Larceny. 41000 block of NC 12, Avon. Unauthorized withdrawals from victim’s bank account. Money was sent overseas.

July 6: Financial Credit Card Fraud. 19000 block of Old Ferry Landing, East Lake. Unauthorized financial card transactions on a business account. Under investigation.

Financial Credit Card Fraud. 200 block of Colington Ridge, Colington. Unauthorized financial card transactions on victim’s account. Money was sent to Walmart.com.

July 7: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 47000 block of NC 12, Buxton. A variety of items stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Larceny. 50000 block of Kings Point Drive, Frisco. Construction material reported stolen from a job site.

July 8: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 1000 block of Burnside Rd., Roanoke Island. Wallet and other personal items stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Vehicle was vandalized as well. Under investigation.

July 13: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 100 block of Canopy Lane, Roanoke Island. Gift card scam. Under investigation.

July 14: Larceny of Boat. 27000 block of Dory Rd., Salvo. 18’ boat reported stolen from victim’s yard.

July 18: Identity Theft. 100 block of North End Rd., Roanoke Island. Personal identifiers were compromised and unauthorized financial transactions occurred on victim’s bank account.

July 19: Larceny. 100 block of Bideford St., Roanoke Island. Jewelry reported stolen from a residence. Under investigation.

July 31: Larceny of Motor Vehicle. 100 block of Airport Rd., Roanoke Island. Vehicle reported stolen and was recovered shortly after. Under investigation.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 200 block of Soundview Dr., Colington. Phone scam where money was stolen from the victim’s Venmo account.
