Kill Devil Hills, NC – Anthony Pugh, beloved husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away on June 26, 2023, at the age of 78, at his home in Kill Devil Hills, NC. He was born on May 26, 1945, in Punxsutawney, PA, to the late Anthonia Terrana and Raymond Pugh.
Anthony dedicated his life to hard work and service. He was raised in Elizabeth City, NC and after graduating from Elizabeth City High School, he served his country honorably in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant Major. Anthony proudly served two tours in Germany and one tour in Vietnam.
Following his military service, Anthony pursued his passion for automobiles and became the owner of Pugh’s Car Care in Manteo, NC. He was known for his expertise and dedication to providing quality service to his customers.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Anthony enjoyed various hobbies, including drag racing and fishing. These interests brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his passions.
Anthony also found fulfillment within his community as a member of Manteo Lodge #521 A.F. & A.M. His involvement in this organization allowed him to form lifelong friendships and contribute to the betterment of his community.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Judy Ann Pugh, his two devoted sons, William Pugh (Joan) of Delaware and Logan Pugh (Lisa Latham) of Virginia, and his cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Samantha, and Wade Pugh. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Pugh Spruill, and his brother, Raymond Pugh (Penny).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthonia Terrana and Raymond Pugh, and his brother-in-law, Carl Spruill.
A viewing and visitation will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, starting at 10 a.m. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Chris Wilson, will commence at 11 a.m. Following the service, a graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. in New Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC.
Anthony Pugh will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and country. He leaves a legacy of hard work, integrity, and love that will continue inspiring those who knew him.
